The majority of all transformers have similar characteristics. Whether it be the overall design of either car or robot mode, they all have a unique style at the same time. In Sideswipe’s case, he is a prefect ballance of two different Autobots. The two being Jazz and Barricade, at least in the movie incarnations. Sideswipe is a Corvette Concept with silver paint and blue tinted windows, similar to Premium jazz’s appearance, though with better quality. The headsculpt bares resemblence to Decepticon Barricade. However, everyone knows that Sideswipe is an Autobot. Could he be somewhat related to the two? Who knows what sub-plot this autobot has in store in the film Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. This figure has great posability with a great sculpt a wonderful attention to detail. The only problems I have are the occasionaly popping off of parts during his transformation and having minor balancing issues with the way the feet have to form in robot mode. Other than that, this is a great figure with great modes throughout.

Bought this for our son, 12 yrs., a transformers fan. He loves a challenge which he found in this item. At first it frustrated him as he encountered some difficulty, but he took a break then he persevered and now tranforms it with ease. He enjoys playing with it as well. Transformers has good educational value because it helps to develop one’s motor skills, helps them to think and resolve a task and to have patience as it was not easy to transform at first.

I’d been interested in the Sideswipe figure since seeing him in a department store for the first time a couple of months ago, but I recently found my old G1 figures packed away at my parent’s house and those had temporarily taken my attention away from buying any of the new ROTF figures. I finally purchased Sideswipe when I found him on sale a couple of days ago, and he is now one of my favorite figures from either of the two live-action Transformers movies.
First of all, the sculpt of this figure is excellent, both in vehicle mode and in robot mode. Although he doesn’t look much like the Sideswipe I grew up with, I wouldn’t change this figure’s appearance in any way. He is very sleek looking in robot mode, and just has a great design, all the way from his head sculpt to the legs and arms. The blades in his arms look great, and have a very cool way of moving from front to back.
As others have said, there are some fairly large seams in vehicle mode, but when transformed correctly, this is still an excellent looking vehicle mode. It takes just the right “snap” here and there to get the arms and feet back into place for vehicle mode, but when done correctly, it’s a solid looking Corvette concept car.
One negative that I’ve found with Sideswipe is that the chest does not actually “click” into place with the torso when he’s transformed into robot mode (at least with my figure). While the chest does rest over the peg at the top of the torso, it pops up very easily. I’ve watched a few online video reviews of Sideswipe and I’ve noticed the same issue in those reviews, and as another reviewer mentioned here on Amazon, you can see this in the picture at the top of the product page.
Finally, the transformation is very good. It’s not as good as the transformation for the ROTF Movie Leader Optimus Prime or Ultimate Bumblebee, but it is one of the better transformations of all of the movie figures I own, especially in the deluxe class line.
If it weren’t for the big seams in vehicle mode and the chest/torso issue I mentioned above, I would give this figure 5 stars. Those are minor flaws compared to the excellent design and fun of this figure, so I would highly recommend buying it if you’re considering adding it to your collection.

This is a perfect gift for younger children probably around the age of 9 to 13. Easy to transform back and forth from robot to vehicle. No small parts to swallow. It looks awesome in both vehicle and in robot form.

Good looking and a nice addition to my growing collection. However, I have noticed that the ROTF toys seem to be built cheaper than the first movie toys…… rough edges, paint missing, etc.
