Chancellor Palpatine and his elite Senate bodyguards are hidden behind a front panel. View larger. | Rule the Galaxy with the Ultimate Republic Starship As seen in the film Star Wars: The Clone Wars -- in which the heroic Jedi Knights try to restore peace to the Galaxy as more and more members of the Republic fall under the influence of the Dark Side -- the Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser provides an action-packed narrative setting to inspire imaginative play. Every detail of the Republic flagship is packed into this 20-inch-long model, which includes a front panel that opens to reveal Palpatine's quarters, a hidden cannon under the wings, a drop-bomb launcher, an escape pod, and more. The Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser comes complete with five mini figures: Chancellor Palpatine, two of his elite Senate bodyguards, one Clone Trooper pilot, and one Clone Trooper gunner. Building the Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser With 1,170 pieces and two colorful instruction booklets, the Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser took our two adult testers approximately three-and-a-half hours to construct. The majority of the pieces come in shades of gray, so approaching construction requires a bit or organization and discipline. But once building is started, detailed step-by-step illustrations make assembly straightforward. Overall, this set scores an excellent rating for its clever design elements. Just when you think you've discovered all the hidden weapons and command posts, you stumble across another. Our favorite features are the Palpatine mini figure -- complete with cloth cape and wrinkled brow -- the sliding gunner, the hidden Clone Trooper cockpit, the escape pod, the bomb dropper, and the Chancellor's enormous command center. Finally, most of all, our testers enjoyed the way the narrative of this set allowed them to reenact the ship-to-ship combat seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. They also appreciated that the storyline is simple enough to make the set entertaining, whether or not your child has seen the film. What's in the Box 1,170 LEGO pieces and two instruction booklets.

| My nine year old son had to have this, and after raiding his savings account and a few extra dollars from me, he was able to purchase it. It maybe took him five hours to build (because he would start play with what he had just put together before going on to the next page.). He had a great time building it and loves to play with it. It is a hundred times better then the Lego Imperial Star Destroyer for play with and does not fail apart like the Destroyer. |

| My son saved his allowance and Birthday money for this ship even before it was available to buy. The ship came the day after it was purchased online and was built in 4 hours! My son is exstatic with the Attack Cruiser and has rebuilt it several times (after a rogue AT AT attack). This is a toy that keeps on giving! |

| 10 year old put it together by himself. the directions are well done. it was a great learning opportunity as he had to take apart a few things and rebuild them. he didn't get frustrated as he saw the progress he was making. when finished, the Republic Attack Cruiser is a little fragile and must be handled with care. that proved to be a little difficult for our builder, but he figured it out. Just be sure you have a space that can hold all the individual legos and the project, while it it being built. i would give this a high rating, if your child likes to build legos. |

| This is a Christmas gift for my 8-year old grandson. He has been building with legos for several years. This is his first really large set, and I am confident it will be appropriate for him. The price on Amazon was the best in the market. My experience with legos has always been very positive. |

My son (age 9)received this for xmas this year and when he opened it xmas morning he about went ballistic as he has been wanting this set for a while. When it came time to build it he opened the box to find that none of the bags were numbered like other lego sets---I looked at him and said I do not build these and if you are going to cry lets put it away and return it. He looked at me and said "Mom, I got this!!" so he tore open all the bags that were in the box and there lay over 1k lego pieces on my dining room table and he went straight to work. six hours later he was just about done but missing one lego piece that he needed to attach the last wing to the ship. so now we are waiting on that one little piece to arrive from lego. on contacting lego the customer service rep was very friendly and said our piece should arrive in 7-10 days. I love the lego company. Back to the review of this product, my son had no help from me or his dad or anyone else for that matter, he did this all on his own. we usually do not buy him the bigger lego sets as they do not seem as sturdy as the smaller ones, but this one being huge he carries it around and plays with it and it does not fall apart like other sets he has owned. has neat little bombs he likes to drop on us and around us. a fun toy for him to play with. Would I recommend this for a 9 year old?? Well if your child is into legos and has the wherewithall to build this then i say yes.
My son read the directions and patiently built from pieces what is now a ship. he not only learned patience and taking his time to do it right, he also gained confidence knowing he could do something like this all on his own. kudos to everyone who has built this!!! and for those who are thinking of undertaking this task!!
overall a great learning experience for my son and confidence booster. just remember if purchasing this product that the bags are NOT numbered and this is not a simple lego set. have fun and enjoy it!!! |
Great Addition to a Huge Collection

I bought this for my son for Christmas. He absolutely freaked when he opened and was shaking with excitement. He is a huge Star Wars fan and a self-proclaimed 'Lego Master.' Dad stayed up until midnight one night to complete this ship, 9 hours in all. The 6-year-old Lego master is absolutely thrilled with it. He took it with him everywhere for the first few days, without breaking. Unfortunately, it broke when his friend accidently knocked it off the bed. He fixed most of it on his own, but dad will have to do the rest. The many moving parts and 'secret' compartments, make the fun of this toy last for days and days, if not longer.
Yes, it does have a lot of parts and a HUGE instruction booklet, but it is worth all of it. I am from the days when Legos came in a giant box with no instructions, so I wasn't very supportive about getting my son Legos that require instruction books. Since it has broke, my son has already used many of the parts to create new ships and such. Given that he still uses his creativity, Legos with directions are great in my book.
He wanted to let everyone know "It Rocks!" He does recommend this ship, although he advices children to keep an eye on their parents so they don't try and make it theirs. |
